It seems to me that we are doomed. Islamic extremism is growing against the infidels as well as their own Islamic sects. Bali, Spain, England, U.S., Afghanistan, India, Pakistan etc.
There is no dialogue possible with these groups. High tech weaponry as well as money is now on their side. Big guns no longer mean anything, Al Qaeda has the know-how to crack into the Pentagon, they've done it already.
Now what ? An endless war with no visible uniformed enemy ? And all this over religion ?
An old friend contacted me last week. I last saw him 36 years ago. He found me via the Web. We spoke by phone for an hour. A few minutes after hanging up, a flood of emotions over-took me. We hung out in our early 20's, got married about the same time, had children about the same time, divorced and re-married about the same time. I love it when the circle begins to close, to me it's a great gift.
To most of you under 30's, do whatever it takes to stay in touch with your friends. Everything you have now will fade away in time, except friendships.
