Forgive them

Forgive them if they slight you
for the faith which you believe
forgive them if they know it all
and flatter to deceive
forgive them if they think that faith
is a mind of fantasy
forgive them for they seek to fill
all thats eternally empty
forgive them if they call you mad
their sanity has it's bounds
forgive them if they seek to shoot
with empty secular rounds
forgive them if they see their god
as a measure of material gain
forgive them if they start to laugh
and smirk to hide the pain
forgive them for it's death they fear
the dark besets the end
forgive them for they envy you
and still cant comprehend
forgive them as they're human
only so far they can see
the gateway to a mind at peace
and you have the key.

Ireland's warrior queen

Feet of stealth
fists of fury
mind of a champ
thing of beauty
is she the best?
she is surely,
Ireland's warrior queen

Voice so humble
focused mind
Irish athlete
of a different kind
generation inspired
joy we find,
Ireland's warrior queen

Battling bravely
facing blows
even harder
when she throws
thumping jab
never slows,
Ireland's warrior queen

Mna na heireann
have you seen
the greatest among you
mean and lean
nation rejoices
gold meets green,
Katie Taylor
Ireland's warrior queen.

Beauty from above

Your eyes are like pools of moonlight
illuminating a serene ocean
your body sculpted from the waves
potrait of perpetual motion
your sweet voice alert the senses
and fills the heart with love
as the soaring nightengale sings
of beauty from above.

Your touch ignites pleasure
of upmost intensity
sweet laugh so infectious
my mind filled with glee
from the sun you drew your warmth
and you filled the earth with love
as heavenly angels sing
of beauty from above

A moment in your arms
is eternity in paradise
raising me to new heights
a different kind of nice
you made a better man
when you showed that man love
and every day is a gift
with beauty from above.

The bear sleeps

The armstice is signed
for the war within,
no axe to grind
no battle to win.
The fresh autumn breeze
tries to say,
leave the fighting
for another day.
A needy brood
is now what matters,
their mouths are open
their bellies are fatter.
As the winter wind blows
it's time to take stock,
am I the earthquake?
or the mighty rock?.
With a family calling
I must lead the way
and so the bear sleeps
to live another day.

Solitude

Free is the mind
true is the soul,
through lonlieness strain
I pay life's toll.
Open is the heart
to all it greets
to do good for all
whenever we meet.
In life's trials
my heart was bruised
from the wracking taunts
and times I was used.
For that I wander
life's lonely road,
not bitter or angry
as I carry my load.
Like the cross at calvary
I embrace it whole
for free is my mind
and true is my soul.

From the dust

From the dust I came
and will rise again
reborn and reformed,
new ground to regain

To the dust
life sends me
in is trial and pain,
tough my spirit is bruised
it is not slain

In the dust
some see me
as yesterday's man,
but the mind of experience
has a master plan

Blow the dust aside
a new dawn is here
a new man discovered
for all to revere.

My beautiful you

You're my scented rose
you're my fire when it snows
you're my starry night sky
you're the shoulder when I cry
you're the shelter in the rain
you're my sense when insane
you're a world pure and true
you're my beautiful you.

All you prodigal sons

Calling all yonder
why do you wander
to places that darken the soul,
disillusioned?angry?
or filled with envy
of those living lives whole.
Do you listen to voices
of so called truth
abandoning loved ones
through reckless youth.
Have your life's pains
replaced sunshine with rain
seeking pain relief
with all that's wrong.
As you pillage and plunder
many will wonder
why your battle cry
is a never ending song.
Despite your views
and internal short fuse
from one man you can't hide
although you may run.
He's our heavenly father
calling all near and yonder
"please return my prodigal sons"

My emerald home

Rugged northern landscape
southern sandy beaches,
the wonders of nature
is one thing it teaches

Born from adversity
rebellion,famine,opression
lessons learned from history
have lead to progression

Steeped in culture
poetry,song and dance,
the forefathers stories
of deep romance

So friendly the people
as we go through our day,
a "cead mile failte"
to enjoy your stay

Tasting the black stuff
the craic agus ceoil
the songs and the stories
to lighten the soul

But economy's hand
forces many to flee
to lands of opportunity
a bhristeach mo chroi

Despite the faults
of present and past
my love for my home
forever will last.

Seasons of the mind

Darkness besets the winter ways
reflection in all those autumn days
basking in gloriuos summer rays
all seasons of my life

Hopes fall with all the autumn leaves
covered in snow without reprieve
rising again on springs new eve
reform and start again

The bear sleeps on colder days
until summer means its time to play
a man reborn in so many ways
all seasons of my life.

Love is the way

Love when you're giving
see reward in their smile
love that you're living
love is the way

Love when you're hating
let your heart shield the pain
love when forgiving
love is the way

Love all life's beauty
let your heart be your eyes
love those small blessings
love is the way

Love every sunrise
its warmth is your guide
find strength in its sunset
love is the way

Love in your sadness
console through your tears
ease their pain that is greater
love is the way

Love when your teaching
show how its done
let love free their minds
love is the way

Love when you're nearing
that long journey's end
your reward is eternal
love is the way.

The hero we dont know

To tend the wounded
on the hospital bed
to tell the bereaved
their loved one is dead
to face the gunman
and feel the dread
is the hero we don't know

To fire on the frontline
and feel the pain
to not find a pulse
and ty again
to look for solutions
when all around is insane
is the hero we dont know

To be tired and hungry
so the famished may eat
to miss their children
to get others of the street
to face anger and danger
in all that they meet
are the heroes we dont know

Standing tall in the cold
whilst we sleep in our beds
thinking of you always
when all else has fled
no magical powers
or cape black and red
they're the heroes we don't know.
