Why Kitchen Curtains Were Made

Where does the wind come from
Where does it go
Suppertime is near a certain feeling is here

The widow is raised kitchen curtains begin to wave
Kitchen curtains were made
To introduce the Holy Spirit

Your mother worked hard all day the wash is on the line
But the kitchen curtains are dry by suppertime
There's a blessing in the wind and as you say amen

Where does the wind come from
Where does it go
I should have helped mama with the dishes long long ago

Dixie Flags Everywhere

I didn't know she was a confederate soldier
Dixie flags everywhere
If I want to keep living I'll keep my distance
Stand way over here and stare

Once upon a time I asked her if she had a Dixie spirit
She nodded her head said yes and now I know why
Dixie flags everywhere I'm lucky to be alive

She's got old photographs old stories to tell I just know
Maybe we could communicate by telegraph
I don't want to get to close

A guy could get shot just being around her
I'd be looking over my shoulder all the time
I'll gently find a way to say you're beautiful but could we talk long distance line

Little Boy Hide Away

Little boy in Kentucky hiding away
In the lonely mountains
Safe another day

Never connected and what would he say
Hope of leaving is not detected
Little boy hide away

All the days surround him with a view he has always known
And life has never found him
How can life find you when you're always alone

Get a life is a familiar phrase you could say
Some hold it like a stone a view he has always known
Little boy hide away

Johnny Was A Gamblin' Man

A red head caught his eye so he told the other girl goodbye
No he didn't mean to make her cry
But Johnny was a gamblin' man

His luck was changing for the better
Now what was her name how soon could he forget her
He hopes she understands that Johnny was a gamblin' man

Why did he write all those love letters
Guess they were in vain sometimes love isn't forever
But to play it safe a gambler should carry a cane

Perhaps he was looking for fortune but not for fame
She will find someone better if she can
Now what was her name Johnny was a gamblin' man

Simply Fade Away

I can see that you are happy
I can tell by the smile on your face
So I won't interfere I'll just simply fade away

I can tell your life is wonderful
Filled with good things every day
So I won't disturb you not even with memories of yesterday

For so long I didn't know where you were or how you had been
And by luck somehow I stumbled
Across the social media and then

Good to see that you are happy
I can tell by the smile on your face
So I won't interfere I'll just simply fade away

The Old Ways

Sometimes I get to missing the old ways the old days
I just can't find the words to explain when in peoples hearts there was a flame
And it became a guiding light and everything felt so right

And I can't explain how oil flowed from the word of God
And how it covered my soul I knew everywhere my feet would trod
My life was always bound in the old ways

How do you get across a cross that's in your heart
How do you talk of oil need I say anymore
I get to missing the old ways so I found a place to hang my hat beside the door

Kindly

Kindly say it's over
Kindly say we are through
But really you don't have to say a word
Just one cherished look will do

Kindly now could we be friends
Kindly this is how it ends
Tomorrow the sky will still be blue
Kindly I'll remember you

Kindly say goodbye as you walk away
Kindly is how I always prayed
But sometimes the answer is no this is true
Kindly I'll remember you

Unnoticed Poem

The sun is shinning through the clouds
Trying to warm a winter day
I've got to be patient spring will come
And chase all these blues away

For now the chill lingers
And soon the sky will be completely gray
So for the moment with an unnoticed poem
Trying to warm a winter's day

I'll wave my hand as you smile
I'll even whistle for awhile
I've got to be patient spring will come
And then an unnoticed poem will bloom in the sun

Just In Case There's A Girl

Just in case there's a girl
Who will read the letter that I wrote
Just in case there's a girl
Who will give me some hope

Of someone to love me
Just as I am
Just in case there's a girl
I could really understand

Fall in love with no fear
Of a heart to ever feel any pain
Just in case there's a girl
Who feels the same

And with words wrap around her heart
A true wedding band
Just in case there's a girl
Who would want me as her man

At The Speed Of Life

Everything keeps happening at the speed of life
Why do memories wait so long
Before they start looking back at the speed of life

There's something you want to say
Somewhere you want to be
Someone you long to see

Somehow it happens as suddenly as saying good night
And once yesterday wasn't so far out of sight
But that was when we never thought about the speed of life

Maybe we should have prayed when we were young
That life would have stayed as it had begun
And now lonely has become the meaning of quiet

There's something you want to say
But who will hear the words that fade away
At the speed of life

Snowman

Snowflakes fall down
They don't make a sound
Quietly they bring winter into view

Every snowflake falling from the sky
Have always had a plan and as hard as they try
They need someone to build a snowman

Kids put on winter clothes and hurry outside
With happy smiles to share a snowball fight
And everybody knows with all that snow in sight

They've got to lend a hand
For as hard as snowflakes try
They need someone to build a snowman

You're Probably Right

You're probably right I should move on
And stop thinking of you each night
When I'm all alone

You're probably right I really should let go
For someone else is holding you tight
And as each day slips away I get old

You're probably right as women usually are
Though I've tried everything silly as it seems
I even wished up on a star

You're probably right for who am I
Just an ordinary guy who should have said goodbye
The last time I saw you at the karaoke bar
