Maybe she's thinking the last one was the last one
It could be it should be
Over and done

How can I end this
I didn't pretend this
How can a guy be so stubborn for one kiss

Maybe she and I could rehearse one
And the first one
Would be the last one

Oh lonely you have hurt me way too many years
Oh lonely why do you hate me
I wish you would just disappear

It seems my prayin' never gets through
Cause every night and day
Lonely I'm still stuck with you

I watch tv them my eyes get tired and I turn away
I could tell someone about lonely but who would believe me
No one did yesterday

I keep pacing back and forth in this little room
Oh lonely why do you hate me
I wish you would just disappear really soon

I want to walk beside you through the meadow
On a lovely spring day
I want to spend some time with you
And listen to what you have to say

Lean a little closer to me
As we watch flowers budding from the ground
Being in the kindness of the moment
When there's no one else around

Looking back over my shoulder
I see the sky is turning gray
And before the rain is upon us
I listen to what you have to say

Rays of sunshine and a rainbow
Magic has come out to play

I've no need to tell you anymore
I have written so many letters
By now words leave the page so bore

My personality has become as faded as the fall
And if you think there might still be a spark
Remember the time is here for a no burning law

I wish I could be on some Polynesian shore
There I could find rest watching the slow tide
I have no words left to hide and I've no need to tell you anymore

She keeps me writing songs
I find myself doing it again
With the beating of a tender heart
Writing of a love with no end

She keeps me praying silently
For dreams that may never be
What's the meaning of all this poetry
I find myself doing it again

She keeps me walking straight
For the honor of tomorrow I'll always wait
But as I grow old tell me what then

So many lines on the paper
Now there are lines in the mirror
And I find myself doing it again

Love is something no one can understand it
Am I walking around on another planet
How did I catch a rocket ship to Venus
And now with so many miles between us

I'm somewhere and I find the atmosphere is intoxicating
I may never find my way back to earth again
How many days have I been longing and waiting
For you to say you're more than just a friend

And now with so many miles between us
I'm trapped in my dreams on Venus
Forever in dreams on Venus

Who is the new girl
Where can she be
Who is the new girl
That will take away her memory

I'll keep watching
For her to come along
As the story of Frankie and Johnny
Is just a fading song

Who is the new girl

I'll keep driving on a two lane highway
I'll go walking on a hiking trail
Someday I'll see her as she comes my way
And then there will be a new love story to tell

Silence on the line I guess says it all

And now today another I will write
But if I'd had someone to talk too
There wouldn't be one poem in your sight

Two hundred twenty nine leaves a long lonely trail
And it's sad looking back
So write one more might as well

What has been on my mind
What was I trying to say
Now it's two thirty I'll still be awake come the break of day

So now you have found me after my thoughts have become so quiet
But If I had someone to talk too
There wouldn't be one poem in your sight

Nothing but the day and you and me
Walking together with sunlight to add to our company
Guiding it's light through the leaves
As we walk neath the trees

On a trail with only one thing to say
Nothing but the day and you and me
At a small wooden bridge we pause looking at a stream
You stand close to me and life has never been this good
Not even in a dream

I'm glad you feel the way I do
But who knows what tomorrow will bring
For now how lucky can I be

Everywhere I go everybody knows I'm in love


Watch a sparrow fly
Swift like an arrow from that cupid guy
And cupid didn't lie

When he had her in his sights
And pulled back his bow
