I use to write of love but I won't anymore
I won't mention the feelings I had at the start
And if she were to look for me she might find a familiar face
But she won't find me I'm hidden away in a concrete heart

A heart can only hurt so long then it finds a way to turn to stone
Could there have been a love story could there have been a love song
And I forget those feelings the pain became too sharp
What is there to say when love is hidden away in a concrete heart

Now tears only make it to the edge of my eyes and never fall anymore
If my eyes turn red I ignore that and play it smart
And if she were to look for me she might find a familiar face

Just in case you don't want to be the one to say goodbye
Just in case there's a little red in your eyes
Just in case you wanted to keep your ring out of sight
And it's ok if all you have to say is goodnight

If all you have to say are words that sound polite
If all you have to say is that the weather is nice
I wasn't ready I wasn't prepared
I hated to walk away and leave you standing there

Just in case you need me to let go
Just in case you are feeling low
I'll never stop again to say hello and it's alright

I've never made much money
I've never had a fancy car
I've never had the right moment to call a girl honey
It's always been here I am and there you are

There you are with someone who takes care of you
Here I am still getting by
Here I am with a heart that needs to cry

I've never made the right connections
But once I was on a plane
I've never seen you walk in my direction

I'll never cross your path again
I'll never be your sweetheart or friend
I'll never play for you on my guitar
But what a sad song here I am and there you are

Pardon me for staring and pardon me for caring
But my adhd falls in love so easily
I hope you understand

I know it's one sided and my adhd treats me so unkind

Pardon me for hoping and pardon me for not coping
With my adhd but you're the most beautiful woman
I've ever seen and maybe you will never understand

I'm lonely today

And I could almost cry
How the years have gone by
I guess I'm in a bad way

The fog has rolled in thick and so early
And the morning looks as lonesome as me
I wish the sun would come out and break it up
I would relax a little and sit down this cold coffee cup

This is what happens when thinking to myself
But you see I have to
And the only thing I have to say
Is that I'm lonely today

How did tomorrow come and find me
While I was looking for you
Now I'm too old for you to know
How many years I have been a fool

Yes the years slipped in just like the wind
My hair has turned so gray and I walk heavy on my feet
I didn't have much to say back then
Now I'm a loser who's really been beat

Sometimes love can hold your heart tenderly
And take years before it slaps your face
Now I'm woke and I can see
I'll be arriving in last place

Did you narrowly escape the day
Did the stress almost get you
Did the memories catch you
And the worries I bet you

Were right on your heels
They got there so quickly right along with the bills
Did you take time to pray

And tomorrow you'll be running and running again
Running into something to break or bend
Some call it the rat race and lately it's picked up the pace
Do you have someone who will give you an embrace

Your blood pressure is increasing
Your dreams still have you reaching
And your doctor tells you what a price you will pay

I'm waiting on the rain to cool things down
I'm waiting on the bus to come to town
Just one bag will hold all my clothes
Where I'll be this time tomorrow heaven knows

Time for me to leave even though I'm nowhere bound
Sometimes love doesn't happen and that's the way it goes

Don't feel bad for me I understand
I've been through enough pain that I became a man
I've had some highs and a lot of lows

You have been invited to another day of life
And the invitation fills your heart with delight
The morning sun glistens through the leaves on the trees

And a gentle breeze seems to caress your face
Being aware of this time and place
You have been invited to another day of grace

The birds sing and the meadow green
Among your surroundings summer flowers come into view
An invitation to another day of knowing God loves you

Writing for magic or money
One thing is clear
Wish I had the magic to make money appear

Writing for reason or rhyme
Love could be a reason
Love could be a never ending line

Writing for thought or pleasure
This is what I find
It was a pleasure to know you if but for only a short time

Writing for jest or seriously
Looking for the words that binds
Love is found deeper when you read it between the lines

Seems it's been my faith for a long time
That God would keep me young till I can have a life
Yes it's been that way a long time
And someday something good will be in sight

Stormy weather can't last forever
There's not enough rain to wash away all my dreams
Someday life will be so much better
For what's in my heart was put there by the king of kings

I'm writing are you reading is there anyone
Now on this page this is the time for me to write
Don't you believe God will keep me young
Till I can have a life

Seasons come and seasons go
And when the ground is covered with snow
My thoughts of her will still be sweet
Follow my tracks and a young man you will meet

Long time ago a girl caught my eye
I was under a spell and to make matters worse I was also shy
But one day when met
Something happened I'll never forget

She preferred a handshake to a hug
And pulled the rug of love
Out from under me it didn't seem fair
And maybe the fall is what caused me to lose my hair

She married some other guy no not a chance
For one date was there to be
So I guess I'll learn how to skate
Maybe the next girl won't pull the rug of love out from under me
