Lately in the neighborhood there have been a lot of hints
Some make me sad so I hope this will be a last reply
Ponder melancholy like leaning my heart against a picket fence
No explanation why this is turning into the long goodbye

Just the facts mam like a long ago tv show
Why do I have to keep watching all the reruns
So everyone blame me and let it be done
Maybe I should just live in a cave till I grow old

A judge and jury and a few monkeys hanging on a limb
Everywhere I go the same thing again
Don't be embarrassed about something in the heart of an older guy
Just the facts mam and let today be the end of the long goodbye

I guess I let her down
And folks will be disappointed in me
They won't read my poems anymore after today

Some things are not easy for me to say
It takes a long time for me to look before I can see
And there's something that's not ok

It seems that all these letters
Were some kind of rehearsal behind a curtain
It's not right to speak of love unless love shows up in person

I guess I let her down and I don't knows what's in store
Seems I've always been standing in puddles on the ground
Made a lot of tracks trying to ring the right bell but at the wrong door

Sorry to disappoint as I've reached the end of the line
But no more rhymes of missing and hurtin'

Have you not heard out of faith hope and love
Love is the greatest of all
And since faith can move mountains
Love could move the sky and yet hold the stars so they don't fall

And love still holds the stars in your eyes when I look at you
You know it's been that way for a long time
But now I must say adieu
I concede to be only a friend will you be mine

Though we may not meet again for quiet awhile
Sometimes I will think of you as a friend in my mind
And if we meet again maybe the stars will be gone
But I hope to still see your smile
And may we be friends for a long long time

He left a paper trail but she never caught on
For years he wrote of his emotions for her
Now the years have come and gone

He made the effort to say goodbye
Just in the nick of time
And between you and I
Now the paper trail she will never find

For she wouldn't think to look on a dating site like cs that was his guess
And now that the paper trail is complete
He has no choice but to click delete

Someday when she is shopping and remembers she's out of paper towels
Maybe she will stop for a moment and think about him
Well this story had to wind up someway somehow
And the day he said goodbye the paper trail came to an end

Just when I think I've said it all my heart fills up with more

He tried to long ago but she shook his hand so fast
Stopped him in his tracks
Funny how memories can linger from the past

And if it's not really over
Goodbye gives him freedom to move along

A live better parking lot no longer a sad place to be

Imagine a heartache that won't end

Overwhelming to reveal so still pretend

Maybe spiderman has escaped but then
This is getting heavy and needing a plan
But what are thoughts when your mind goes numb

I put you high upon a pedestal so high I can't let you go
And even if I could write lines so cleverly

Why can't she please help me understand

Springtime flowers and listen to the honey bees
Buzzing all around yet I'm feeling down

And pulling pedals off of flowers tells me she'll never be around

If I wrote a song for the girl of never be
How could I write the lines she wants me to really see
Is that the girl of never be
Will never be in love with me

Would the Lord hear a little prayer
And someday make it come true
The girl on my mind and in my heart is still there
Yes it's big love in a little prayer

My words are not grand like a poet of fame
But when he sees my heart love for her will be explained
It's in his hands the only hands that care
He's the only God I know that would listen to a little prayer

My words are just a few
And would she agree if she knew
Someday the answer will come and I know it will be fair
Can I get an amen for big love in a little prayer

Kato had some playdough
He made a pink panther
And took him to his school

All the kids gathered around
Made a happy sound
They thought pink panther playdough was cool

They did a pink panther dance
And when the teacher got the chance
She took them all outside
They put him on the swing and they put him on the slide
Kato was beaming with pink panther playdough pride

The bell rang kato put him on the bus and everyone was feeling great
Till the driver slamed on his breaks pink panther was spinning around
Flew out the window and under the tire now he's flattened on the ground

All the kids cried bus driver wanted to hide
Through his mirror he saw pink panther make his last slide
It was a sad day when pink panther playdough got dusty fried

First person said to the second person
We shouldn't talk so personally
And the second person said to the first person
Yes I really agree

The first person said I'll make my words dull yet fair
Cause in that way people will say doesn't he care
And the second person said well it's understood
And so far you're doing good

First person said to the second person is the weather calling for rain
Do you have any brothers and sisters but don't tell me their names
Is it alright to ask this much how's your mom and dad are they ok

Second person said to the first person
Hmm I'll have to think about this and get back with you someday
First person said to the second person gee I have to go
It is getting cloudy and I'm sorry that every time we talk I always rush away
