Muriel

Muriel, I can never forget that face
an angel in disguise, without the wings
but such love in her eyes

A force of nature so frail but strong
an empathy with those that did not belong

A lady that knew how it feels to be lost
no home, no love ones, no hope, no trust

With arms wide open she gave them the bread and water of life
a place to come to, a constant in their sad lives

You gave me strength, you gave me hope
you made me laugh, tears running down my face

You listened and bestowed your wisdom
with twinkle in your eyes

Thank you dearest Muriel for being such a good friend
and giving unconditional love to the homeless and vulnerable
right up to the end

Beautiful Country

Beautiful country, thy lines so sublime
Horizons gently appear as fields unfold
yielding plentiful plantations of life's golden crops
The patterns of farmland lay a carpet of evolving colours
spreading away from the hills and forests
in a fanciful pattern of provincial tapestry

I love thee dear countryside of my childhood
you gave me memories to cherish
and a lasting love of our beautiful
British Isles

Is it possible

Gently hold me one more time
love at my age makes no sense or rhyme
years have past, passions have gone
the feelings and exuberance of youth no longer linger on
To trust again I am unsure, can these feelings be endured
Shall I open my heart to someone like you
who makes me feel so bright and new

About this poem:
I am not a poet as you can see but I do write down my feelings sometimes at any given time.

Wondering whether to dip my toes in the dating scene at this time of my life, I am a little shy and reticent in having an expectations in another time and another life than when I was younger.

Blissful Interlude in Time

Just an interval, a space in time

Precious moments together as lovers entwined

A gentle passion, wild flowers given, poetry written

How sublime to feel beautiful, so special

Basking in the sun, feeling the warmth of your body

In that moment in time you were completely mine

CHANSON D'AMOUR

Song of love so sweetly sung,
dreams of love so deftly spun.

Thoughts of love that brings us tears,
sense of love that brings us fears.

Passion of love that causes emotion,
feel of love that tastes like a potion.

Trust of love that gives us joy,
blush of love that makes us coy.

Completeness of love that brings us together,
steadfastness of love that remains for ever and ever.

Lasting Moments

A fleeting look, a wistful glance
can this be the beginning of romance

A heart that is open waiting for love
a kind that one imagines comes from heaven above

Hesitant moments, a shy caress,
lips that tremble at each bequest

Eyes that smile at open invitation,
fingers that move with animated frustration

Treasure each moment and let love mature,
reaching out to a golden future

About this poem:
My first try at writing a poem when I was about 12 years of age. Typed out on a really old typewriter, only found this recently. What was going through my head at that age, have two other poems on the same sheet. Thought this will either make the real poets smile or cry!
