A Hero (s/c)

Medals are for heroes
commendations for the brave,
courage and devotion
bravery, sacrifice,
flow in their veins.

We celebrate and honour
those who carry
such a life,
giving and unequalled
price often the life.

One man saw a need
stepped into the fray,
his life was exchanged
so we could slip away
he stood alone for us.

Blood was spilt
life was taken
we could escape.
Where is his medal ribbon
never had one

He died for people
to save them so....
Jesus was his name
a substitute who came

Heart Boxes

If I could open up your heart
as I open up a box
What would I see?
What would it be?

I'd approach it just the same.
Carrying hope, anticipation,
curiosity

What might be inside....
Hmm... endless possibilities.

So,
what did I see?
what did I find?

In this lovely corner,
what I found,

.....is kind.

About this poem:
I believe (to quote Cafe), "Kindness is the crown jewel of character".

This simplistic box of words is dedicated to all the conveyors/givers of kindness I've found here & elsewhere on the internet...

Flame of Kindness (s/c)

Let us show esteem to each other
Let us celebrate life
Let us value people that we meet
As we pass this way but once.

May we share a word softly spoken
And encourage those who pass by
Let our lives touch each tenderly
As we pass this way but once.

May we help and not hinder
Let friendship be without cost
Those who tolerate and then dismiss
Let us not be part of this.

Do then good toward somebody
Kindness and compassion leave
Should you ever once feel cold
Find this flame nearby for you...

People Pottery (s/c)

people pottery

kindness is a cup
love the wine preserved
from centuries

hands pour the wine
of love into your cup
people made of clay

God pours the wine
divine into the soul
life is imparted
to quench
to satisfy
day by day

Shake Off Your Blues (s/c)

Shake off your blues
the day is new,
love and life
are waiting for you

Stand firm and sure
this moment's here,
cherish the time
that brings us near

Love and laughter
lie waiting for all,
the good ship
Opportunity
sails that ocean

Strike the band
let the music inspire
open your soul,
fly like a bird
higher and higher

Move to the music
sing out a song
life is for living
for giving,
we belong....

SOS (s/c)

Ships are like people
sailing life's ocean
battling the elements
day by day

Crossing smooth
crossing rough
sometimes weak
sometimes tough
overwhelmed by it all
life more than a squall

Can we spot
the SOS people send?
Can we see
the rockets
hit the air,
sail close by them
reach a hand out
save our soul

Key to your heart (s/c) - Dedication

I caught a view of you
looking sad and blue
and everything in me
wanted to reach you
and when i found
the key that lay
upon the floor
of your heart
I picked it up
and opened your soul
and now it starts
finding your love
is finding a jewel
that others never saw

The Blonde's 'Timeless' Clue (limerick)

There was a blonde woman from Crewe,
who thought she had quite the great clue.
She said, "Yes, I'm quite smart"
I got a great head start
Changed my clock yesterday at 2!"
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Posted: Mar 2011
About this poem:
"...yesterday at 2!"(a.m.that is)
Thinking how it's said the "official" time change occurs at 2 a.m., and jokes about getting up at 2 a.m. just to change the clocks(as opposed to changing them at an "unofficial" hour, such as before going to bed, or after waking up in the morning....)

..(maybe I should've called it "the blonde's totally clueless time idea" lol)

About this poem:
This appeared on a small piece of paper on the refrigerator a year ago, sometime after I'd shown my parents some poems my husband had written me.
I've typed exactly as he wrote it to my mom(leaving out their full names)

To my dad & mom-still married 52 years
(and would prob. want to throttle me if they knew I posted- however, they don't have a pc & don't intend to get one-lol... and would likely get over their shyness after seeing the kind people here anyway)

Caress Her (s/c)

Caress the silent soul
when in the depths it lies,
bitten by the wind
of harsh and hurtful fires.

The logs and twigs
of careless words
bruise the yellow rose,
the depth, who knows

Bring love, bring care
bring tenderness too
Hold her tight
as tight as glue

No words can reach
no speech so fair
But hold her close
and love her there

Words can fail
as people do,
yet arms of love
stay strong and true.

Hug her till
the tears cease
and wind and fires
give way to peace.

...more like a song - just popped into my head, so wrote it down. Not being a poet or musician, I've never had that happen before...

Just thinking of going to visit someone, then having to leave...

(Sure hoping it's not someone else's words. I googled it... doesn't appear I got it from anyone-lol-be sure & write me, though, if it seems familiar)
