Latvian Ethnographic museum is located on the bank of the Juglas Lake and it was established in 1924. For the visitors the museum was opened in 1932. This is one of the oldest, richest and biggest museums in Europe. The total area of it is 87 ha. Examples of farmer's yards, workshops, windmills, forges and stoves collected from all four ethnographic regions of Latvia are gathered in the museum. There are also some churches, building where at the beginning of 18th century there was the school for farmer's children, pub which is still working on the territory of museum and etc.

There will be some really old farm machinery in there I can imagine!!Its good to look back and see how things were....You can appreciate what we have now..In the picture it does'nt look very big....thumbs up wine

Excursion takes about 3h, if you want see all places, of corse you can always have quickly/running excursion laugh
I with my girls every summer once go there.

According the rush roofs they are very resistant, but they must be able to impose the correct. My youngest girl's Godfather house oldest part also have such roof.
About chees :) it's not cheese making place, but place for washing - bath house. At the back wall you can see bath besoms, infront you can see tub for water, in the corner you see stones which are covered the oven, during fired oven stones are heated, then if you pouring cold water appeared vapor and air became humid (Latvian bath is different from the Scandinavian bath and more like the Russian baths).
Cheese usualy made in kitchen and when it was ready kept it in the basement. And we are not exactly cheese country, mostly all hostesses sowing cheese only for Ligo celebration (midsummer tradition comes from paganism times)
