I have been fortunate enough to get to see this monument several times. One of my favorite memories is playing my guitar in on of the tunnels that you go through to get into Custer State Park which is near the monument. The acoustics in the tunnel were AWESOME and as it was late in the evening with no traffic I was able to not only play until my fingers hurt too much to play anymore but I also got the most spectacular view of Mt Rushmore all lit up at night.

ps....if you go to the monument you get a great view up Georges nose lol
