I hope we here have not competition just sharing things what we like
It stands in Pollok Park...It was built in 1752...and it houses the famous Burrell Collection
Iwill attempt to take you inside...There are some 8000 treasures gifted to the city by ...Sir William Burrell
...Sir William Burrell, was a successful businessman,he and his brothers bought ships when the economy was in "recession" and made their fortune selling them in better times...He travelled all over world on his ships...and collected many works of Art and items of interest on his travels....He collected so much, that his house would no longer hold them...So he decided in 1944,to offer everything as a gift to the city of Glasgow......with £250,000 to house it..on the condition that it all be housed together in a rural setting...
Enter Pollok House....which was then opened to the public in 1983....As the venue for The Burrell Collection....The pictures I can show you, will not do it justice as you have to see some of the items.."in the flesh" to appreciate the textures and the richness of color and form.....But I will do my best,to find some things to give you the idea.....
... yes each tapestry is as art work... stained glasses as usually beautiful and I feel some "weeknes" to old furniture ...
thanks
