Hi everyone,
A 100% correct answers!

Well, it was fun taking this quiz. In fact, I am French, I live in France. And, I am a teacher. I teach English.
How did I proceed? Well, most often, when in doubt, I just paid attention both to the context of the sentences and to each word given to fill in the gaps. However, sometimes I justvknew the answers.

Thank you for the quiz!

I have checked twice and have 29 correct answers. My score was 80%.
This sort of thing should be fun but it's not when the scores don't match the answers.
Does anyone ever explain or apologise?

two of my answers were wrong.. I think rice and curry depends on whether you see it as the same dish, as in India or different ones. Like here people have rice for breakfast but in the evening they might have something like a curry, often with yuca. Just a thought

Hi,

What I find with English is I don't like English as a language and its rather hard for an major dyslexic , any way the language in the States is not our British language so there are many differences and spelling I find quite off putting and our Kiwi language is different again , some of the meanings are not pointed out as in ,=

you too or you two, who you refer to , a person or an object or is it meaning to do something 3 meanings in no 11 its not clear,

lose is its a o lose or to lóóse you will lóóse 'as in luuse your o becomes an u as in luuuuuu,

in my language German we have a sounding of letters differences ,

any way ,

danke fúr sie tun ,ich habe fúr einen legastheniker recht gut tun.

danke = thankyou .

some of the answers had dual meanings... whereas both answers could be correct. Not really an accurate test.

in 18, shouldn´t it be either: ...a compliment.... or ...compliments....?
in other words, "complement", singular, should be preceded by "a".

I don't know how 18/20=93#, but then it was a test about words - not numbers. Hmm, the author did address most of the words most frequently confused. thumbs up

@Grisbosque Sorry to say that I didn’t found any ambiguity --- you scored 83% which means 16 are correct out of 20 qtns which means nearly 3 / 4’s. No error anywhere!handshake

Your results explanation seems ambiguous.
I scored 100% and the results said I scored nearly 3/4...

Since when is 100% nearly 3/4's?
Maybe better to say over three quarters.
Maybe it was a computer error? Hopefully so,
As it would seem untoward that a test on word
Usage used bad semantics.

Think before we make our own comments, and we need to read and understand the introduction of the quizz given prior to take the test. It clearly says that, especially this test is meant for those whose language is not ENGLISH.So this quizz is helpful to understand the level of understanding English language with confusing words, same word has two meanings etc.. Think constructively. It is essential that we understand the introduction or the given preparation many times by understanding the mind of the creator himself instead of trying to push our own thinking. Learning could be done at any stage of life irrespective of age, level of education, intelligence or superiority . Thanks for your hard efforts. Keep up the good work. I am in appreciation of your quizzes very much. I am happy about my results - 93% 18 out of 20 answers. In fact, English language is my favourite and i still learn from others..applause

The English language is the most difficult to master. While I might agree that "affect" and "effect" may be different, there are many who do not understand that there is a very slight connotation in the words. And I do often get them wrong (I seem to have done here). And the dictionaries say that they are equal.

I am slightly embarrased not to have achieved 100% as I do have to make corrections to my staff often on the words they choose which may not give the best meaning in a sentence.

So many English words mean the same but can impart a different meaning. Oh the joys of the simplistic 130,000 word languages of most of the world against the 1/2 million plus English words.

I am sorry to have to say this. I am a teacher and some of these answers are incorrect as is some of the syntax in your introduction. Please check you are correct before posting a quiz on speaking English that it is CORRECT. I do realise you had good intentions, however, this needs reviewing.

I disagree with your answer for #18.

#11 is confusing the way you wrote it.

I interpreted the questions to mean "you two" meaning two people.
