Just a suggestion that although some of us have already met, many who are considering coming will likely do so with some trepidation, partially due to that.
Perhaps it could be an idea to keep the event low-key and casual, without too much structure, so that everyone feels comfortable to just pop in and not feel somewhat obliged to take part in anything should they not want to.

Luke79: Hi! I'm Luke, 33, from the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Are you guys doing dinner as well on the night, or is it more of a drinking thing?
Hi Luke
Although the night doesn't usually involve a 'sit-down' meal, lots of people order off the menu and have a bite to eat when they feel like it (in between a few drinky-poos lol)
Here's a link for you to have a look at, food-wise

or maybe something cheap and cheerful in Chinatown? (we can all throw that idea around a bit closer to the meet)
Hope you decide to join us
Okay, Friday night does seem like a few of us are having a bit of a night on the Spanish Flea.....okay, looking at having a night out with a floor show.
I am happy to do the bookings but will need to knwo some very definite "Oh pavors" or whatever Yes is in Spanish a bit before the night so we can book. Will post up a forum page called Merri's Oh La La Night Bookings as we get closer for the definites and also for the maybes (with no gaurantees on that bit).

I agree with Nanna, if you are new to this site, or even just thinking of dropping in on the night, reading this what do I have to do? Take $5 for a prezzy? take a prezzy? get up and sing in front of a whole bunch of strangers?
Some of the group have met before, even more than once and will feel comfortable about making arrangements for the whole weekend but some peeps might want to let things develop - if you know what I mean
