Monday morning's devastating 6.3 magnitude quake which left at least 179 dead, Around 5,000 rescue workers searched for survivors through last night.
L'Aquila, 70 miles north-east of Rome, has a population of 68,000 and was at the centre of the 6.3 magnitude quake which struck before dawn on Monday. More than 1,500 people were injured and tens of thousands left homeless.
'Tis more the pity the neither the government, the police or the residents of L'Aquila didn't listen to the desperate messages from the scientist at the Italian Institute of Astro Physics. He posted it on the internet, and the authorities removed it. He then out of desperation, drove through the streets of the town, blaring his message on a louder speaker urging everyone to evacuate, telling them there would be a major earthquake. He had picked up a high level of radon gas around the seismic area.
It all went on deaf ears. He was removed by the police, who told him he was scaring everyone. I understand he may also have been sacked by the University. I saw him interviewed on the news last night. He had tried so hard to get the message across. What is the point of having top brains in the business if they are silenced?

Hi Oslo, How are you? Doing well, I hope. I finally got a few minutes to try to upload some I took, but can't find the link you sent where we can share the photos.... I'm pretty sure it was in an email, but it seems to have vanished
