Since you're basing your evaluation on the type of music they play NOT on their ability and guitar playing virtuosity.
So you're a well known musician/guitarist yourself, I'm sorry I wasn't aware of your fame. In that case, the next time you're jamming with your friends, it should be an easy thing for you to cover-
--Ain't Superstitious--Jeff Beck...Have you heard this before?
In my SUBJECTIVE opinion, it's one of his masterpieces, but since he's unworthy to qualify for your list, it should be no great effort for you to play this. But I do wish I could be in the audience at that time to appreciate your version.
Not qualified to comment?I wasnt aware that people needed qualification to form an opinion?but since you ask I have an extensive background in music, particularly guitar which I have played for the last 27 years and taught others as a profession for the last 11 years.I have played both as a soloist and with some well known and respected musicians, such as Steve Earle,Tommy Emmanuel&Clark Reid to name a few.I hope in your opinion this is qualification enough for me to have an opinion of my own, pray tell what are your QUALIFICATIONS?

If you don't "like" Jeff Beck then you know nothing about great guitarists and are clearly not qualified to make a list of them. I suspect you need to do more research to educate yourself. JMO

You only like your own opinion? K. So do I. I mean I like my own opinion, not the opinions owned by you. Excepting when they coincide. Then I don't liek my opinions.
Firstly, Ozzy Osbourne isnt a guitarist, neither is Abba!secondly I just dont like Jeff Beck!only my opinion tho!

You underestimate the brilliance and difficulty it takes to reach the audience in deeper layers. Also the technical genius of his techniques.
It was all on purpose.

I can understand why you left out Hendrix. He was never a virtuoso of technique, though many mistakenly believe that he was. He was an artist, a musician par excellence, he played on the heartstrings of his audience. He breathed and bread soul, the soul of a man or that of the collective conscious of humankind, all only through his music, through playing the guitar. His play was not brilliant and difficult; it was, instead, beautiful and able to reach you in deeper layers than that of any other guitar player.
But you should have included Carlos Santana.

Tonic,
You seem to be biassed for double-letter guitarists. JJ Cale, BB King, RR (Rodney Rhodes).
It's like a man who restricts himself to idols who have double-letter names (MM, BB, JJ, CC -- Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Janice Joplin, Claudia Cardinale) and as such you (mistakenly in my opinion) unfairly left out ZZ Top, ABBA, OO (Ozzie Osbourne) and MM (Mitch Mitchell).
