He was one of the most creative in that period. Most of his work depicted Proverbs of the day which are now lost or forgotten. I had spent many hours trying to understand what he was saying; without success I may add.
My favourite painting of his is not on the video, it is called 'The Misantrophie' or 'Mantraps'. A rare and fascinating genious.
Thank you again B
You must be refering to a Bruegel´s work I guess? Another fantastic painter by the way.
check out the painting here:
Bosch is a Dutch master too
But I understand that his works can be disturbing for some.

Hi Mysti,
you are of course right, I had mistaken the three Bruegels,Bosch,Grunewald and another half dozen LOL.
That is not the 'Misantrope' I was referring to but it is on the same lines and akin to 'the blind leading the blind' another work by the guy 'whose name I can't remember'.
Most of these images were created around the time of the great plague and religious reform in Europe. When satire, vulgarity and morals were depicted under the guise of religious art. Fascinating stuff,
Thanks again, B
Kinda telling us 'aint we glad not to have been born then' although nothing has changed since, lol

never heard of Grunewald before... I´m learning something new today Thanks a lot! This is superb:
have you heard about the contemporary artist Dave Patchett? His works reminds me of Bosch´s.
...The Dutch Proverbs...Pieter Bruegel
I think I´ve seen an animation for that work too...

Yeah,It would be challenging...Why dont you put it up?....
time for my skulls now, and then return to my jacarandas and paintings.

Hi Mysti, I've had a look at both your tags above. Daves work I find a bit innocuous and pastel, lacking any great drama but basically I suppose masterpieces in their own right: Whereas Grunewald- almost every brush stroke can be felt or rather sensed being applied. The tonal quality creates pure drama and the play of lights 'dance' ones eyes around the picture. lacking in Daves I think.
Hay!Lofty....and I thought we got away with it...
...The Dutch Proverbs...Pieter Bruegel
Hi Freebyrd, Do try to put this somewhere we can try to guess the proverbs --- I'm fascinated
no worries, lipsee. Bruegel is influenced by Bosch. Maybe that´s why his works are great too.
And yes, I saw you and freebyrd. lol
uh-oh you´re speaking like an expert now, Ahwell. Calm down. I´m just an amateur.
I agree with you on Dave´s works. He needs some more improvement... But he´s on the right way, I think.
...The Dutch Proverbs...Pieter Bruegel
I want to know the proverbs too, freebyrd. That would be a puzzle within a puzzle.
I'll see what I can do..........There's over 100 in there you know....
still on vacation. Back to work only in 2-3 weeks or maybe after the damned carnival, that´s when my country begins to work.
"such a cold day"... It´s been cold days here in Teresina (for my complete happiness) with lots of rain, storms, lightnings and all.
Let me know please, I can only guess one at the moment, lol
now I´m really curious!
Have a look at Salvador Dali....they all need to catch him up....and I'm not a fan..................
Yes,it would be like the 100 Famous Faces revisited.....Maybe tomorrow........Maybe not.. ...lol
Which one?....I think I see a couple of them....
Banging your head against a brick wall: Everything that shimmers is not gold, will look at the pict again and get back to you
Thats true....But there is more depth and more Soul in Dali's works......The materials help, yes .....but do not make the Artist
