Okay....I'm hooked...Details please
Take a look at "Jan's Wildlife Forum" for more details (6th post down)
If you go to the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch site, you can print off an A4 page of common garden birds, and you just tick boxes. Remember that it is not the total number of birds you see... it is the total number of a species that you see on the ground in one go. ie. if you see 6 blackbirds in your garden at one time (not flying over), than later you see 8 blackbirds, then you would record 8.
Have fun!
If there is anything else you want to know just send me a mail.

I am not a birdwatcher, I am more a plantoholic lol My eyes are always on a ground (if I am not bumping headfirst in a tree or a shrub)
But I do notice birds too ... we have a lot of hummingbirds and owls and woodpeckers and Bluejays here, eagles and hawks, bats and other flying creatures
But one day , while working in a woods, clearing brush, I've seen a woodpecker and it was HUGE. I have no clue what species . When I'll get outside I will post a picture of Holes he made in a dead pine. I have never seen anything like that.

Oh...I am a plant-watcher too!!
I would love to see a hummingbird, or even a bluejay! I would be interested to see the holes in the tree that that woodpecker made, although if the pine was dead, that would probably account for it...there would be many more beatles and lavae living in a dead tree, so the woodpecker would just want to take off all the bark to get at the wee critters underneath.
Yeah...I'm sure I would

You are a good bumper Jan! Thanks for that!
Actually I didn't forget about taking pictures of those holes. It is just it is snowing here everyday.
Pine is dead. A previous owners of our house manage to kill this magnificent tree by lowering levels of Spring run off water tables, when they were digging a pond on a property. She was standing in a water soggy soil for almost 17 years trying to survive.
But those Woodpecker's holes are perfectly square and deep! :wow
I always thought that Blue Jay are a gentle once. Until I've seen them behaving like a crows and even the sound they makes sends shiver through my skin. Other then that they are beautiful species.
So many species so little time!
