dark sky reserves

of course, you can have the childlike sense of awe and wonder while stargazing, too. light pollution is real. i remember when i was in my 20s coming home from working the afternoon shift. i lived in a neighbourhood on the edge of a somewhat large city. i would go lay in the cool grass of my backyard and look at the stars. i would look in awe at the enormity of space and become overwhelmed with the realization of how lucky i was to be alive on the only place in the universe (at least, that we know of) where life existed. i don't camp very much or get out of the city too often at night so, i haven't seen those stars for over 40yrs (ok, ok...my fading eyesight might be a factor, as well). i would like to see them, again. if you live in the city, get out to a dark sky reserve or even the country away from city lights to see the beauty in the night sky.
