Domestic VIOLENCE

As a child... I remember only too well.... the shouts.... screams... noises... sights... sounds.... aftermath

The effects are far reaching.. they never leave you.

They take away your long-term ability to give... and receive love.

Don't let it happen to you or others.

Don't be a victim.

...Worthwhile post...

'If more than just a bit unsettling...
Before I moved out to Ireland I remember seeing on the sides of busses a slogan for the anti abuse iniative in I think 2001, simply "Zero Tolerance"...
Im in no doubt that abusers, of whatever gender or persuasion should feel the FULL penalty of the law...Forget peacemeal sentances, A HARD and proper punishment is required...
There are people doing time for what i would consider much lesser crimes than personal, spousal and child abuse...
There are more considerations at play than my reply will go into, suffice to say, I have whitnessed the HORROR of what this topic covers...
The physical violence and bodily scarring ultimatly heals, however the mental damage is there for life...And let us not forget the "mental cruelists", or sociopaths, insidious in the extreme, again i have seen the fall out from these "gutter rats"...
Im a firm believer that everything can be solved by rational discussion, even if it takes a time for both parties to find some common ground...Though im not religious, I would err on the side of buddhism and all the elements of life, respect and tolerance that the faith espouses...
There is NO justification for inflicting harm on others inside a civilized and social community environment, (dont ask me for my views on war!), and that also extends to animals (in my own opinion)...
To be fair, this post would really have done well for posting on the international forums, the subject is one that would resonate with all women and men, and while I mention MEN, Its worth noting there is a significant number of men who are "victims" of abuse, that, though no less acceptable, would be a matter for more in depth analasys...(I believe there is an Irish study that recently braught this condition to greater public notice)...

Thankyou LB for a most releveant post...

Best wishes as ever...Lard...conversing

You are very generous with your kind and insightful comments Lard on a subject that still makes me feel ashamed. Thank you for your time and words. The world needs more people like you!
