It is hard to say, there are so many lobbyist and special interest groups. The money it takes just to become a politician means taking donations and obligations to those who lent you that money. That and all the deals a politician has to make moving up the ranks, by the time that politician makes it to a place of real power they are in debt to so many other interest groups to really have a solid foundation on what they believe.
We have two major political parties that both rely on rhetoric and a "look how bad the other party is" approach, but neither really are out to solve any internal problems. Like any government, it is corrupt. Both parties are, and reguardless of their rhetoric, their rhetoric is just a means to get ellected, and all it really has accomplished is dividing the nation into two incredibly biased groups. No president that has had power of the congress in their respective party has governed on what their electorial platform is. So really, even following either party is sham that only causes "group think"
Inherently group think, if you are unfamiliar with the term, brings people to several ends. Blind bias, distrust and lack of openness to opposition, a feeling of knowing what is right for everyone else, a feeling of fatality if opposition gets an upper hand, and a focus on self survival over accomplishing goals.
The answer really is, allot of different things govern the nation, mostly two different ineffective parties and special interest groups.
Exactly, the land and people are too diverse in character, views, religion, origin, and race to call an "American" one thing. Helll, I think that is true for every nation, and no country has the diversity America has, not even close.
House arrest for non violent criminals, we are letting killers out early so a guy who smoked a doobie can stay in. If they are not going to build the facilities to keep people incarcerated, at least keep the dangerous ones in.
Neighborhood football and baseball games in the yard. I go back and can't believe how small of a "field" we use to play on nor can believe we never damaged anything too expensive, just a few bones and a few windows
If nothing else, bias should be dead (but it isn't), Bush and Obama have both had time with control of the legislative branch to their respective parties yet only managed to make matters worse. Loyalty to either the republican or democrat party at this point is blatantly stupidity.
I take that as a challenge old timer. You are giving off a tinge of "superiority". and I am fair man and give you a spot to make your claim to it. Therefore, I am giving you a chance to explain your "superiority" in any way you wish. If you guess me, explain it, if you feel you are better than I, here is your chance. If not, keep you comments to yourself, and I will remain kind to you you until I sense the condescending nature you have made so far towards me as part of your thin character.
