Problem is most of the time when you go to 'get someone back' you end up getting back at someone else instead. I do have to agree about the having fun with friends though.
Many people are egotists, so they desire their potential mate to be either equal to or superior to what they consider themselves to look like. Somehow they believe that by dating someone that is 'beautiful' that will make them more attractive as well. Seeing as how our society focuses on physical beauty instead of spiritual, intellectual, or personality first, this is the quality that many individuals look for in the beginning.
