I think most people tend to want too much. Many people want to have lots of hobbies and interests in common and forget the core qualities of a human being. People often appear to be searching for a travel companion or a party goer rather than a loving relationship. I don't know why people can't see what they are over looking. All the nice and decent people get over looked because they are apparently not enough fun. Those who seek such fun may never be happy because the truth is that a good, kind and gentle soul who will be there when you come home or appreciate coming home to you is not always a bag of fun. Personally, I would like to find a woman who loves animals, has compassion in her heart and can accept that sometimes, life is boring, sometimes I will be boring and that money is but a material object worth only what someone else says it is worth. Perhaps I too am asking for too much.
We don't all think that all Women are gold diggers but we do get conditioned to think that women are attracted to money. One factor is the disproportionate success in finding a woman for wealthier men than poorer. Society in general has conditioned people to place high value on achievements in business and careers over personal development. People are conditioned to generally constantly want more and more instead of finding true contentment. Additionally, the person you encountered is probably just shallow and materialistic in general. By your interaction, you have learned that he is likely no good for you to have in your life because he appears to place more value on material instead of principle, integrity and dare I say it, heart. With all that said, it's important to note that I am making a value judgment based on limited information and could be entirely mistaken. For what it's worth, Gold digging is not reserved for women alone, men can do it too and it's every bit as awful. I hope this answer is helpful for you.
