I was in Iraq for a year and a half as a truck driver, and yeah theres plenty of adventure, but it gets old real quick. And Like LaVerdad said, its not for the faint of heart. There are many things to consider besides the danger, theres the extreme heat, the long hours, no time off, being away from family, and as a contractor the money is good but you are just a number to the company, it's NOTHING like working in the states. It all depends on your goals, if the money is worth it to you and you want an experience, then go for it.
