RE: Do you read profiles with no photos?

Frankly, I think that long distance dating is not serious (the grass is always greener on the other side...). Communication/transportation technology is fantastic, but when it prevents to see the good things that are around you to move focus to places/people that are 100km far from you (or more), it's a problem. It's a good thing if it allows you to get to know interesting people from other cultures.

So, why no picture: well I think that to refuse to speak with someone only because he/she didn't put a pic a mark of shallowness, so don't have a pic is a good and easy way to filter them. But of course if someone contacts me and wants to put a face on my name, no problem (in fact, I do it spontaneously if the contact becomes good and the other person doesn't ask).

And no, I've nothing to hide ;-) I'm not pretending I'm handsome or ugly since that's fairly subjective. But there things a picture can't "render": "inside the eyes" (haven't found a proper English translation - "intensité du regard" in French), body movements and the voice — what plays a far more important in the "chemistry" than a static picture (or many) - to me.

So, to answer the question: yep, I read the profile of faceless people. And for people with a picture: if I don't "like" the text (too high expectations for example), I don't answer or send the message even if the picture(s) is(are) pretty.
