About me and who I'm looking for

About me: HI introductions are in order. My name is Douglas but just call me "DOUG"
I was born in Bangor Maine in 1947 the good old days When I was growing up in the early 50's. (tail end of the good times)People knew who there neighbor were, people watch out for each other. People share with each others food & clothes You were not afraid of the cop on the beat he was your friend. You left you back door open there was no need to lock it. People welcome the new people who move in the neighbored. I missed those days. In 2nd grade we moved to Levittown NY
I live there to I join the US Army for 3 yrs. served in the Vietnam War.

After the war I went to culinary school and became a Master Chef after many
years of hard work and learning from other experience Chefs 1964 to 2012
I stared a cooking school for the homeless in Hartford CT so they learn a trade.
I have cook all over the world and have even cook meals for a few famous
people. in my life time. I spent one year of volunteer cooking in Ivory Coast
Africa. During these many years I got married to a wonderful African American Female
wife.Eightteen years She died on 11/21/97.It was the best time of my life. we always kiss
good night. Things has change over the years I have made new friends
male & female. Many are former co-workers that I still keep in touch with
over the years.
I am happy with my life, I am a nurturing person, I am always trying to help people in need even when I know they won't appreciate it, I can't help it. I am strong minded, I am the person everyone comes to cry on my shoulder. I am a good listener. I think I am an overall good person. I try to be the best friend to my friends
I enjoy trying new things in life, I have join AANR organization

I'm looking for: It would be nice to get to know someone local and build a friendship. Some one who is also a AANR local member
it would be I will be a platonic friendship i have no other agenda at my age I was happily married for 18 yrs till she pass away in 1997.
Maybe going to the movie, bingo night, walk in the park,Dutch treat date etc.
I do in joy travel and hoping some one has the same interest.
I have done a lot of couch surfing since I have retired. The web page is
couchsurfing. There are host all over the USA that open their home and give you a couch to sleep on but 99% of the time you have a private bedroom & bath
If they have time they will take you on a tour of the city if not they will show
you the best places to see. They will offered you Breakfast in the morning
You can stay one or two nights. I have been to 10 States so far. The only cost is getting there and returning home All these things are better when enjoyed with a friend.
