And usually how I approach people on here, I just say "Heya. Interesting profile! How goes it?" I feel it's not awkward, and friendly enough. Shows that you have interest, but you're not being creepy.

I think that works better for women than men, though. There's typically a lot more guys than girls on these sites and it's almost imperative for us to stand out and be interesting. From what I understand so far it's not unusual for women to have a few suitors in their inbox on a regular basis, but it's not the case for most guys

Of course, so far it hasn't been an effective strategy to spam every female account out there with "HEY I WANT YOUR SKIN YOU SHOULD MATE WITH ME!!!" either
