Watching a documentary on Edith Piaf I realized I too started off adult life trying to pack in as much as possible: travel, career, lovers. It was a great time (although my romances were never on a Piaf scale!) Somehow the white picket fence never held much appeal.
I now have my own legal practice, comfortable home, the whole enchilada. All that’s missing now are flying ducks on the wall, the cocker spaniel, and of course, the family. I’ve good reason to be very content with my life. My early decision to put aside my first career and ‘go abroad’ meant I indulged my passion for travel and languages by first working as an English teacher in Tokyo, then a cross-cultural trainer in the US, and ultimately a University management career at a research institute about the Asia-Pacific– with further education and wonderful relationships along the way. I’m a sucker for romance and have many other passions: dining out, concerts, theatre, travel. But nothing beats the simple pleasure of intimate moments à deux.
