Oh no, not this again!
I'm one of the three best-looking guys in my family. Well, not counting the dog. I'm 61, but everyone says I don't look a day over 60. I live in Maine, which is the second-coldest place on earth, after the White House. I have been in about 50 countries on four continents and most of my friends wish I had just stayed there.
On a slightly more serious note, I am indeed a freelance journalist, and a freelance editor, and I do substitute teaching and professional dog walking. When I tell people that, in person, they're always most interested in the dog walking, which is kind of funny, given some of the things I've written about. In any event, I'm not wealthy, but I hold my own.
I have in fact traveled a fair amount, and have lived, worked and studied abroad a fair amount. I've done a few interesting things, and I speak a few languages. I'm involved in my community, and I'm fairly political, on the progressive side of things. That doesn't mean my partner has to be political, though it would be nice to meet a woman who's involved in her community, as opposed to a couch potato. I have had partners who weren't very political, and it worked out fine. Well, until it didn't, but that's another story.
I actually enjoy being wrong, as it gives me an opportunity to exercise humility.
When I'm not overthrowing governments, I like to hike, backpack, camp out, swim, hang out with friends, family and my college-age son, have a couple of beers, maybe play a little pinochle.
I like living in a small town with great day hiking, and where I can walk everywhere, and where I can scarcely go to the (food) co-op without running into a few people I know. I might be willing to relocate, and might even consider living in a city, though it's a little hard to imagine giving up my trees and woods for concrete and cars.

Again, on a more serious note, like I said, it would be nice to meet a woman who's involved in her community, and someone who takes an active interest in the world, is in reasonably good shape, is not averse to travel, and who enjoys the outdoors. I'd like to meet someone with a sense of humor and someone who is self-confident and self-assured enough that they don't have to win every argument.
I'm not in the least bit opposed to a woman who has kids. On the contrary, I love kids. But I don't think I want to father any more kids.
