An awesome album.

Awesome indeed. Certain bands effectively define certain genres. Linkin park basically defined Nu-Metal with this their second album. Their first two albums were pure genuis musically and commercially. The later ones were pale by comparison.

Few vocalists represented disaffected youth more throat-tearingly painfully than Chester Bennington and Brad Delson's highly processed but sharp as a samarai sword guitar treatments along with Mike Shinodas vocals/keyboard and turntable contributions brought together multiple genres which had never before shared the same spaces.

Alas, after this offering, Delson seemed to have been made somewhat redundant and try as they might, the band never reached the same heady hights with later albums.
