It is October. It is time to get some outdoor colo

I hope you find inspiration in my thoughts today.

My camera is in my day pack and my hiking shoes have new laces. My friends and I are looking at our free time with excitement. Day trips into autumn leaves with a picnic for sharing is a wonderful transition into November and close family time at Thanksgiving and Christmas. October is here!

After we get where we are hiking or biking, everyone on our journey shares what they bring for the picnic lunch. Last weekend, someone made a spread for crackers that was so good everyone wanted the secret. After lunch the excitement turns to getting great fall pictures, or talking. In the entire experience we all bond as friends and just want more of this.

What we all want is good friends that really care about us; To love and respect each other is the emotional glue that improves how vibrant the fall colors appear. I organize most of these “autumn expeditions” here on the California coast. By the time Thanksgiving arrives most of us are recharged with our friendship to the point we can almost tolerate that one special blood relative we have that seems to have poor boundaries around respect. You know who I am talking about. We may love them, but maybe not their agenda.

I need good friendship as a best way to generate the positive energy needed or just desired. Smiles are very healing. I feel it is almost a duty to our planet and to ourselves to go out and have a lot of fun with good friends. In whatever non-destructive and respectful ways, good times with good friends just feels right. What makes you really smile for days? Please share your great experiences with smiles that went on for days or weeks.

I have beautiful slide shows of nature from these trips. In December when it is raining we have pot luck dinners, play musical instruments in a circle and have these slide shows running continuously on the TV screen. I guess we're getting every last drop out of what we are doing, As a group of friends, our love of living and sharing is amplified. One of my friends gifted me two French cooking books they do not use. For years I have been perfecting my European soup making skills. Sharing just happens. So I make French soup for our December pot lucks. Gets better every year.

If this inspires you, I double dog dare you to organize something great with your friends. If you have just moved somewhere and have a low number of local friends, go play and make some. Do what you love and things begin to happen. I will later share some great pictures on this site. Enjoy.
I love October!
