Trumping My Own Horn - My Birthday

Tuesday the 22nd will commemorate my 46th birthday cake. And notice I say commemorate because monuments have no birthdays but anniversaries. Oh, boy! Trumping my own horn, I know.party

Another year has passed. And of my To-Do list I only accomplished letting my hair grow and getting a decent haircut, which I did yesterday. Photos to come.

I won't dwell on what I didn't do from my list, but I will pat my self on the back for what I did do, that wasn't on the list. For one thing, I never wrote down the list, so I forgot what I was supposed to do right after I thought of it...glimpses came back to haunt me, like deja-vu, everyonce in a while, and I would say "yeah...am I supposed to be working towards getting this? Or did I dream of this? Or did this happen in a past life? That's the messed up part of reincarnation and believing in it you know...you never know the "when did it happen" part.

But back to my list, I recall thinking strongly and planning to start my own business. Maybe you know I am a professional translator and interpreter Spanish<>English. I want to open my own office, and that I'm still looking to do. Unfortunately, the guy that owns the office building I want to set up camp does not want to rent me the space, maybe because I only need like 25 sqm of office space. But I'm still trying and dogging them about it. I'll get it.

My wishes always start and end with my children's welfare. Doing everthing possible to ensure that they are taken care of and that I'm doing what is right for them and their future.

So far, my this is the tally: My 21 y/o daughter she's as rebellious and obnoxious as ever, actually, she has surpassed her own mark, to a point that I'm on the verge of asking her to move out...and if she refuses, removing her from the household. It sounds harsh, but that would be the right thing to do for her, because unless she touches rock bottom and starts swimming by herself, she'll never be her own person. And doing the right thing is the goal. They have to be able to stand on their own two feet.

My 15 y/o boy...well the new developments in his life this year, were not on the list. Definitely. Everything seemed crystal clear at the end of the school year last year. But he decided to become a teenager right around then. Well, he almost flunk this school year, and I just had to rescue him and avoid disaster, he seems to be doing OK right now. But I know that for me learning to skate-board WAS NOT in the to-do list. Not to learn to speak their jargon. 360º kick flick, I-don't know-what else heel flick...believe me...to listen to him and his friends speak is like watching a Star Wars movie, you know, other planet language...

My 10 y/o girl. Well, she is the sporty one. She plays basketball and is representing her school in the Sub-10 team...is like watching mini-WNBA...these girls are soooo good.
She goes to one of the top-5 schools in Panama. And the 5th grade is hard! This is the hardest 5th grade I ever attended! They decided to have these children be bilingual in the course of one school year. She flunked the first quarter. Lowest grade is 1.0 highes grade is 5.0. Passing grade is 3.0. She had 2.9 on her report card of the first quarter. An insult to Momma! Needless to say she was suspended from the Basketball team. Second quarter she had a 4.4. Third quarter is almost over and so far her grade is 4.9! She was reinstated to the team as soon as she raised her grades on the second term. And I'm proud to say, they are the defending champions, and they are undefeated so far...

My relationship with my ex has always been sour ever since we went our own ways. Now is a little more civilized. Maybe because I stopped guessing what he was up to, and being hung up on him... Good riddance! the feeling is liberating.
