My POV Part 4

So do we stay the coarse, and stay in Iraq?
We are just buying ourselves time.
In the end we lose because the resource won't be there.
So maybe we pull out now?
But now we have just given up our seat at the "oil table" and we have to deal without the resource now. Remember the job's I was taking about?
Hell, we can't stand $3.00 plus a gallon now! Try $8 to $10, heck lets not be shy, how about $20 to $25 PLUS per gallon.
If you think that's an exaggeration, ask someone from England, or just look up online what a gallon of gas in the UK is going for. (U K $7.74 tax incl February 2008)

The way I see it, we adapt or die as a country.

I am saying that if we want to keep our economy rolling, and what I mean by that is, the Dollar having more value than the Peso, and foreign powers from economically holding us hostage, we need to walk away from the oil dependency.
In other words, don't fight that fight, get ahead of it.

I can not justify in my mind, the loss of our, Freedom's, Liberty's, Economy, and our young men and women, for a resource that is, by all educated calculations is going to be gone in approximately 15 years. If we want to stay out of conflict after conflict, and keep America a superpower we need to make the change from an "oil driven economy" yesterday. It hasn't even started to get ugly, wait till the world is about to completely run out of oil. What? You think that China, and Russia would think twice about trying to wipe us out, so they can have our share of what's left of the oil reserve, fifteen or so years from now? Yea we are looking at some bad times if we have the guts to do it now. The upside is after the dust settled our economy would end up becoming bullet proof.
We wouldn't be involved in regional conflict's time and again, and our politics, economy and freedoms wouldn't be at the whims of foreign powers. We would take the teeth away from them.
Or maybe we should pass the buck to the next generation?
Or maybe, we should wait till we are paying $40 for a bag of apple's.
Oppps, I forgot, there is no one to pass the buck to.
Hey, but what the hell do I know?

My POV Part 3

Now before I make my next statement, and all the"tree hugger's"start turning cartwheels, let me say that globally if we had 0% emissions in this country, it wouldn't change global impact, not with China and others, becoming major industrial players.
Lets talk about Al Gore. Now I have always been a conservative my whole life, and I never thought these words would EVER, let me repeat EVER, pass my lips! And not because most of the Republicans, I meet, want to be childish and ignorant in their opinion of him.
He is a very intelligent man, which is more than I can say for my fellow Republicans who don't bother themselves with the little things like the "facts". Oh! And that goes for the Democrats too!
I have just always felt he was socialist in his views, and motivations.
But, I wish Gore was running for President, again. I don't agree with his politics at all,
But in this case, his passion for the environment, I feel would serve this country well, because he would want us away from oil dependency and would take huge steps and risks to do that.
Our views, oddly enough intersect to a common goal. Let me explain why.

Well I'm not out there with the "conspiracy theorists", as entertaining as they are.
But eventually resources will run out and there will be civil unrest.
Our rights are being evaporated, and the government is taking more control of our lives's. You didn't really think DOD was developing "less that lethal weapons" for a combat zone did ya? Silly; that stuff is for us at home when all hell breaks loose. Our government is just making sure their ready for it.
Christ in a go cart! We wiped our butts with the Constitution years ago.
We're looking at 10, 15 maybe 20 years if were real lucky. Personally I think its 5 to 10.
Alright, so our economy is "slaved" to oil. That's a fact, it's most of our gross domestic product, in one way or another, especially if you ad in all the industry's that rely on it, in one form or another.
Cars, car parts, the boxes that the parts come in, motor oil, fluids, containers for the fluids, everything made from oil, all plastics, and so on. Hopefully you get the point.
We're talking hundreds of thousands of job's, and no politician in his right mind is going to put people out of work , when they have an election in two years, in one way or another.
So in this case I believe his passion for the environment would serve this country well.
I would get behind Gore, or someone like him.

(Sigh) I still hold out a glimmer of hope that the Republicans would get with the program. But it looks like a virgin would stand a better chance of staying a virgin, at the DNC before that would happen.

My POV Part 2

Now, lets over simplify.... Ok; some more.

War & Money:
We are stuck now, if we roll out, Iran (Russia, China which ever is the one pulling their strings, maybe both.) will roll in.
Plus we loose our economic edge with the oil. Yea the oil.
We have made an investment to keep this country rolling, God help us, we need the oil, I.E we need the stability in the region. Oil is becoming a scarce commodity.
Even though most of our oil, right now, is coming from Canada, and Central America, that can change within the next few years.
So Canada is stable, friendly, but Socialist, and Central America,...well, lets just say their as stable as a "crack head" with a gun in his pocket and no money.
Which leads me to my next point.
Venezuela, the main country we get our oil from in Central America, allied it's self with...guess who?
Iran!
Now we can't have Iran or any one else blackmailing us economically with oil.
Which is a tactic that the Russian's like to use, especially in the cold war, and recently in the Baltic state I'm sure will be hearing a lot about them in the news the more Russia put's the screws to them in the coming months and years, the Baltic's that is .

So "tactically" parking a major force at Iran's doorstep, was a very sound move militarily. Iraq, had already been softened up, piece of cake.
I only have one little problem with that; something called the Constitution.
I have no problem, with the intention's, it's just the people have elected representative's, and they should have been told straight what was going on.
Even if it's in closed session for national security. Now I could be being a bit naive, and maybe they were told.
If thats true, Mr. President, well... you got punked!
Plus, tactician will tell you don't engage in a prolonged "holding action".
So what do we do? Well, do we stay for the next 100 years? Which is stupid, because their is not 100 years of oil their, and regardless of what any politician tells us is what we have been set up for. at least for 15 to 20 years.
I'm sure it will turn into some low profile "cold war" or given our real opponents China, Russia , an all out military exchange when we get to the "end game" I.E. when the oil is almost gone.
Russian generals used to say at the hight of the cold war ,
" We can take over America without firing a shot". They were refereeing to cultural change in relation to economic pressures.
In other words if they mess with our economy enough, we will do what they want us to do.
You see this on a small scale every four year's during the presidential election.
One year, to eight months before the election a country like Iran, China, Russia, or maybe a billionaire, with way to much free time, puts the economy in a tailspin just long enough to get people pissed and the candidate "they" want elected. Hey, and it works too, think about it.
It becomes the Presidents fault. (LOL) Like he is the only politician in Washington.
Unfortunately we fall for it every four years whether its a Democrat or Republican in office.
That's right we as Americans have the attention span of a fourth grader.

So, it's more or less a safe bet that we are in a global fight as it were over resources.
Everyone is starting to fight over control of whats left.

The Dream Of America

In the course of history, liberty has been a dream, a flame, if you will, throughout mankind.
This concept of liberty, that the majority of Americans today seem so ignorant of, has not just been dreamed of by peoples in 1776.
It has been an ache in humans hearts, so much so that they have given their life blood by the millions, over the centuries.

This Nation, this great experiment of human dreams, that was built on the sacrifices and lives of free men and women, and those who have known the yoke of mans terrible oppression, has been given eagerly, without coercion, time and time again.

This concept that is still dreamed today by peoples, who in their attempt for it, give up their homes, families and risk slavery, imprisonment, and the loss of their lives's to obtain it still here today.

This Nation, is a nation, of the dream of freedom.
It is not guaranteed.
Unless the principles of liberty, and freedom are not championed by each generation, it will die!

Liberty is a woman that requires courting and romance.
We see this, and how hard it is to maintain fortitude, in our sister country of France, who with their blood and courage laid the key stones of modern liberty. Yet tragically, in their laziness, and complacency, has given their liberty's back to the few, in the name of Socialism. I weep for her.

We need to take heed of their example. We are on guard, against forces, who would just take our freedoms. Yet very lacking in our defense of liberty, when evil forces attempts too lull liberty away from us.
For it is the nature of the few to control the many.

There is no political system being promoted today, that has not
been proven a failure in history, with our nation as an exception.
The arguments, of evil is not unheard!
Change, is not unvalued!
But by providence, it should enhance the fundamental freedoms, that were originally dreamed of, and that such sacrifice has been given.
This government as imperfect as it may be at times is the only system in history which has come close to the dream of mankind.
It must be nourished.
Not bastardized and belittled.

God lay his blessing on this great nation, and her valiant servants in harms way, and those who have laid their life on the alter of freedom.
