A treasured first edition, signed by one of the authors and one of the best and totally unexpected presents I've ever received. An insight into the history and natural and manmade features of the area, the local industry including Redcar blast furnace – Europe's largest, as tall as St.Paul's Cathedral with a 14 metre furnace hearth capable of producing 10,000 tons of iron a day - and the characters that live and work alongside this river.

Full of interesting images both painted and photographic, I was inspired by it to make my own exploration of the area and capture some of its charm on film myself.
