Over the last two generations, Americans have increased their standard of living through inflation and debt in both the public and private sector. With apparently no intent to pay the debt, government is spending more and encouraging individuals to spend more to prop up a dead economy. Having only 261.7 million ounces of gold worth approximately $260 billion, it is obvious that we think money grows on trees, or is made from straw, or is in eggs laid by the golden goose because we can't even begin to pay even the interest on our debt.
