I was just wondering if there were any opinions on the topic of movies versus live theatre. They've turned a few of the major theatre productions and made movies out of them.. and the only one I felt did any justice... was Phantom of the Opera.

I personally love theatre. I think it takes more talent to act in a live production then it takes to act in a movie. Because on top of making your character come to life.. you have to know.. all your lines.. movies are choppy.. the actors can refer to the script whenever they want.

What's your take on it?

I love live theatre .... there is so much energy that happens in the whole room ..... I'm not sure if it actually takes more talent to be in a theatre production as opposed to a movie production as you have to remember that the actors for a play practice together many times before actually performing. I'm not so sure if actors in movies actually get this opportunity.

Now I can't offer an opinion as to which version is a better adaption as the theatre productions I've seen have never been made into a movie. Now for books as opposed to movies ...the books are generally better as they offer an much more indepth look at the characters and your imagination can make it so much more wonderful.

Definitely appeciate the ambiance you can only get in a live theatre. There's also a greater relationship between the art and the spectator.
I see live productions sparingly - the cost and avialability. I like it in summer as a lot of theatres have outdoor evening venues.

Movies on the other hand are an inexpensive way to excape for exactly two hours.....
