I wrote CS asking this question too a few months ago. They wrote me back stating it was unnecessary anymore so they deleted the function.

Friends list, prior to the deletion, listed in your profile how many friends you had approved. Someone would email you asking you to be a friend and you could approve or not. Now that function has been abolished. Fan list did not need an apprval from you. It would simply list your fans without you wanting to be on their list or not.
Yes, we can still see who viewed us, if you have that feature engaged. Mine is turned off.
