LILLYLADY: As a woman, I will speak of what a very kind now deceased boyfriend did for me back in the 1970s when I had the Victoria Flu. I was delirious and bedridden with a high fever for about 5 days. He stayed and cooked and made sure he kept giving me hot and cold liquids and kept insisting that I take small bites of nutritious foods. He also took care of my 2 dogs and tropical birds while I had no idea of anything that was going on around me. I was in a restless tormented sleep constantly. Fever broke after 5 days and he made sure I even got a bath in a most respectful manner possible. "Kampy"(his nickname)died several years back and left a wife and young daughter. I am forever indebted in gratitude for the care he gave me when young people in our age bracket at the time were dying of this type of flu. I could have been one of those statistics had it not been for his care and the courage to stay at my bedside when he too could have contracted the same flu. This man taught me how to care for someone you love in life and the sacrifice you will make.
He probably didn't expect anything in return and did it out of the kindness of his heart. Those people are few and far between.
