Male Nurse YAY or NAY? (4)

Currently I am going to school for nursing. Naturally, I am a male as you would notice. I noticed very quickly that within the nursing program that I am the minority. Like 45:1 females to males. This statistic doesn't bother me and I knew this was going to be the case when I was accepted in the nursing program. However, I am curious what are the outlooks or point of views regarding male nurses. I understand being a male nurse is typically going against the social norm but I know that men are just as capable of providing quality care and emotional support as women provide. What do you think? If you were admitted into the hospital, would you have more, less, or the same comfort level with a male nurse as a female? What is your overall opinion of male nurses? Any input would be great!

My dads a nurse and his job security is extremely extremely high because of it. Male nurses are highly needed and some patients prefer a male nurse over a female nurse. So I guarantee you'll be in high demand.

A male nurse my make some women nervous about them being so intimate with them with bathing and such but it will be a normal thing when more men become nurses and more comfortable and acceptable they are not nervous when its the doctor go figure
