Nah, mostly when someone starts a thread, they are looking for reaction, opinion or just interaction.........check out some of the funny ones...
There might be a conversation goin on in the Forum, but you can address the OP (original poster) or a specific post in there by hitting the quote button, so the poster knows your addressing them. Alternatively you can just post without addressing anyone, giving your thoughts.
You will soon get to know peoples personalities by how they interact with others........and remember it is a playground..
A thick skin and sense of humour is required....
