'went well' in the terms of we all met, at a CS meetup a year or two ago, and have maintained the friendships since. I may be wrong but I think that Red and Lok had met before that.

I know two people who, within the forum used to have very heated debates on all sorts of subjects, then had the chance to meet in person, and liked each other laugh

Yes. Paraphrasing the way you seem to be implying. I would have to say that the regular forum posters would still hang out here. Maybe not that regularly. But yes still hang out.

But then again I would Clarify Went Well. As not having anything Stolen. Not finding myself leaving with a stalker following me. And the time spent with them did not seem to drag with me wishing I was else where. Thats Went well for me. cheers

I wasn't that bad, obviously you did not drink enough vodka in your "water" bottle rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

I agree with most of the comments earlier, I have met loads of people from here and other sites, some dates went well and progressed in to relationships, that ended for normal reasons, I have also met some absolute fruitcakes.

I would consider one or two people that I have met on here "friends" but the majority are close acquaintances, and should the opportunity arise to spend more time in close contact, I am sure a long lasting friendship would develop out of that.

One internet date I had, evolved into a steamy weekend, with each of us flying to Broome, her from Darwin, me from Perth, it fizzled out and then we later lived together platonically, but keep in contact today, despite considerable distance, we discovered that we were better friends than lovers, no chemistry after the weekend of lust. However, we are close friends due to similar interests, beliefs and ideals.

The internet is an amazing tool and a great way to increase our social contact circle, however, I need to have long term close contact with anyone before I can consider them a friend, as there are aspects of my personal life that I choose not to disclose to just anyone. That trust comes with time and to me is a benchmark of friendship.

enough of my soapbox rant now.
