Jihadmeathello: I always liked Franklin. And you are talking about the second card in October, that one is definitely better, Lesnar and Velasquez maining that one. And I hope Tito gets wrecked, I can not stand that guy ever since the Guy Mezger T-shirts and that stupid grave digger routine he does.
i like him but he has been whiney. kendall does the grave thing too now. him and hamill train together so it's interesting.
He's been beat before; but, he's considered real cool around here, 'cause he just popped up without much training, and won.
Then lost, then won again!
So, him losing doesn't seem that bad.
I hear about him, and his friends hanging out at the bars in town. I think he concentrates, and wins; then he gets slack, and loses, then concentrates and wins, then gets slack.....
The neatest thing about BJ Penn is, he's a natural. With a few years of training he won a championship, it takes other people a lifetime to compete at. He's not the kind of guy you bet against lightly.
anonymous1: Oh well, it shows how much I keep up on it.

Well, it's the second time in a row BJ has lost to Edgar, however, BJ is with no doubt the most naturally gifted fighter on the planet. The man got his BJJ black belt in 3 years, most black belts get their in around 12-15 years...and that is IF they get them. The problem with BJ is like you said, he doesn't train very hard compared to other athletes and it's starting to catch up with him.
Also he is surrounded by "yes men" that don't challenge him or push him towards his potential. It's a shame, if BJ had a better camp and a better work ethic, he'd probably be the best pound for pound fighter to ever live.

He's the town hero, his gym is about a mile from my house; everybody likes him. It's part of Hawaiian culture not to challenge somebody you respect. When a big man shakes your hand in Hawaii, it's a very gentle handshake; compared to the firm, hard grip on the mainland. People bow, and look away when they walk in front of each other here. Violations of those protocols are considered grounds for a real fight.
Between the level of respect people show each other here, and the fact, BJ Penn is probably the baddest dude on the island, he has to challenge himself; or he won't get challenged.
anonymous1: I'd like to see him train harder and win too; but, since I live in his neighborhood, and have my picture posted, I think I'll skip the boot talk LOL.
