Chatting up a stranger (1)

Hi, dont post here much but you got to start sometime! Anyways, my query is mainly with regards what girls think about a stranger chatting them up! Basically i wouldnt be the most confident guy but lately I might find myself flashing a smile to a girl in an everyday situation if i find them attractive. I also find myself making a lot more chat with girls, say if they call into my workplace or if they are working in a shop i am browsing in. I really am convinced that I am a lot more comfortable in such a situation rather than what i consider the highly pressurised pub/club scene! So what do people think? Do girls think its creepy to be chatted up in such a situation/ has any1 ever gone so far as to give/ ask for someones number in such a situation/ oh ps i mean on a basis of a few chance meetings,
