Ok, so in the UK, every year we have Comic Relief, which is basically a bunch of comediens raising money for charity..the biggest focus being on Africa.
Its been going now for 26 years, and still every year they do it, seemingly with nothing gained.
Every year we see the videos of the starving babies, the sick children, the lack of fresh water, the necessity of vaccines etc....
I dont knock what they do, they raise millions...but for heavens sake, when will they start teaching the most important factor over there...Birth Control!!!

Hi Sol wave

For some of them it may take a while to open their minds from the brain washing the catholic church has been responsible for dunno
I assume monies is going into education so hopefully that will help but may take a while.

wave... Hi Sol

I think there needs to be a welfare state in place first for that to happen. Many children are needed to financially support the old, and statistically many children die. It's historic and a monumental task to change it. sad flower

Im not so sure Vinny,
after 26 years wouldnt you think the pictures of the suffering kids might have slowed down, but no..year in year out its all we see.
How much longer will people keep digging in their pockets when nothing seems to be achieved. When there is no progression, no advances.
Im not a hard person , but I have to say there comes a point when you think..what is the bloody point!

Recently a worldwide survey was conducted by the U.N.

The question asked was, "Would you please give your opinion and a likely
solution to the food shortage in the rest of the world?"

The survey was a huge failure.

In Africa they did not know what 'food' meant.
In Western Europe, they did not know what 'shortage' meant.
In Eastern Europe they did not know what 'opinion' meant.
In the Middle-East they did not know what ‘solution’ meant.
In South America they did not know what 'please’ meant.
In the U.S. they did not know what 'the rest of the world' meant.

Well without researching it, I would imagine there is a proper process of auditing and some good comes of what they do. I would imagine that it is a drop in the ocean though of what is needed in some of the countries. As I said, it takes time to educate people from centuries of brainwashing.

What! Do something that works for charity ! What kind of commie pinko are you ? Don't you know that lots of former overpaid people make a good side income over these things . Why if we actualy did some good who would be left to have these things for . Don't you know how many overpaid jobs that skimming off the top creates . That's what we need today jobs and not those menial ones either . While we are at it, think of all the spinoff that these things genorate . All the limo drivers, the expensive caterers, the TV time and magazine shoots, or the paddad expense accounts . It's people like you that give charity a bad name . Who do you think you are Warren Buffet ? . . . . . . .confused

I canr speak for the whole world, but I know in Canada, charities are scrutinzed to within a penny. I did fund raising for not for profit for many years. Our Gov is far to greedy, if they discover a penny out of place, your done. dunno

well I have'nt a clue what youre gassing about? laugh
But I will say yes, most charities spend their funding in the wrong places..I have a friend that worked for the NSPCC..national childrens society, and was forced to resign because she couldnt keep her mouth shut about the expense account...meals for 500 workers in 5* hotels are not necessary and she kept saying so, very loudly so it was suggested if she not like it she leave..thats 500 workers times £100 per head...you do the math!

I know what you are sayin here . The sad fact is that this is just the tip . So many of these things take so much off the top for " expenses " that too little gets to where it is supose to go . I have riled about this for years . You would be shocked at how much of every dollar ( Or euro ) gets taken for " expenses " . It's compleatly leagle also . . . . . . .very mad

Well I can tell you sure our organization never did...I never made a penny, nor did I want to. My grandparents founded and ran a salvation army misitry for over 30 yrs in Toronto. If It wasnt for his day job they would have under many times...There were times when it cost THEM to keep it running. dunno

The Salvation Army is one of the big oganazations that I usulay give to . In times past they had a verry good score average in how much actualy went to the charity . I will admit that I haven't kep up with it lately ( percentage that goes to actual purpose ) but I still give to them anyway .
