V, All kidding aside, all the safty equiptment seen today is a result of traumas ( or fatalities ) in the past . It seems we learn from our mistakes and we are slow learners . In my younger days I would get my adrenaline fix by racing Formulae Fords ( a class of racing car at the time ) and being interested in the history also I was amazed at what they had in decades past . No role bars, no onboard fire systems, no fuel cells , less flamable coveralls ( somtimes tee shirts and shorts ), no nomex , and leather helments . I also met a number of bikers who where incensed that the laws compelled them to wear helmets ? Oh well, I do remember an add for Bell helmets " if you have a $5.00 head where a $5.00 hemet, if it's worth more wear a Bell ". Let's hope we evolve past that .------ This thread is Archived ------
