Leo Fender designed and made the first electric guitar and amplifier, Fender guitars are still the most used to this day.
Les Paul developed a different type of pickup for Gibson and Gibson called that model of guitar after him. The Gison Les Paul.
Les Paul's were made famous by Clapton, Santana, Steppenwolf and
Most of the lesser known american rock bands.
The Fender Stratocaster was made famous by Hendrix, The who,
and most of the blues players.
Both makes are still very very poplular today.
Pre- 1965 Fenders are worth a fortune and are collectors items.
Pete Townhend of the Who still regrets having broken up about 100 of them !
