RayfromUSA: The most prominent SCO exercises have been those that have occurred since 2005 under the “Peace Mission” moniker. The first of these “Peace Mission” exercises occurred on August 18-25, 2005. Although SCO members sent observers, this maneuver was primarily a Russian-Chinese event. The two armed forces conducted a three-phased operation that began in Vladivostok in the Russian Far East and then moved to China’s Shandong Peninsula, where the participants conducted land maneuvers followed by amphibious ones. Whereas China supplied most of the troops (8,000 versus 2,000), Russia provided the most sophisticated equipment, including Russian Tu-160 and Tu-95 strategic bombers as well as some 140 warships. Missiles, Stategic Bombers, amphibious assault forces and 140 warships.
Now does that sound like "anti-terrorism", or "social development" to you?

It certainly does when one takes it into contxt which is sadly missing from you and your quote. Hell, you didn't even provide the link but being the stand up type I am, I shall;

""BACKGROUND: On May 6, China, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan held their “Tianshan 2” counter-terrorist exercises in China’s ethnically tense Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The three countries’ security forces conducted joint operations against supposed anti-PRC terrorists based in the border region. In late August 2006, the governments of China and Kazakhstan conducted similar counter-terrorism maneuvers called “Tianshan 1.”

IMPLICATIONS: These SCO exercises have multiple purposes. They enhance the ability of the members’ armed forces to deter and suppress regional terrorism as well as another popular rebellion (which the SCO governments would invariably characterize as due to foreign terrorist movement), such as the ones that occurred in Tiananmen Square in 1989 and Andijan in 2005. The drills are designed to improve the operational and tactical proficiency of the participating militaries and increase their interoperability. SCO defense and security representatives have cited advantages in exercising with foreign countries to learn new tactics, techniques, and procedures.""

RayfromUSA: Of course the western press downplays the fact that the SCO is larger, better equipped, better trained, and better financed than NATO.

I especially like the superior aircraft carriers China has planned to make seeing as they have none as well as the single one that Russia boasts.

As you are well aware of, it's a darn good thing Israel is a friend as the US needs Haifa to help support the ELEVEN CARRIER GROUPS the US alone has.

RayfromUSA: The world's battleground is Central Asia.
The SCO doesn't have to operate halfway around the world from its home bases. They are just next door.

And they'd better hope they don't have to go over water or in the air as they'd be screwed. Does Kazakhstan have a good rail system to ward off the Evil US Ray?

RayfromUSA: When China gets really mad, you will know it.
Until then enjoy the bliss of ignorance.

Signs to watch for:

- Chinese-Cuba joint naval exercises in the Gulf of Mexico.
- Sale of advanced attack aircraft to the Cuban air force.
- Chinese ships bearing nuclear missiles on patrol just beyond
US territorial waters.
- Chinese spy vessels patrolling the edge of US waters and
airspace.

Wake me up when they get a navy or an air-force.
sleep

RayfromUSA:
Bon appetit !!

No thanks, you can have that crow all to yourself!rolling on the floor laughing

mnowsa: Dude, just chill out a little! the arrogance of you and your ultra-conservative warhak friends are getting little out of control. Just a friendly reminder, while your passion and arrogance for justifying all the actions taken by the USA to literally turn this world into a living hell is commendable, when the USA falls, the good US citizens will find the likes of you first to 'chop off' the heads for continuously feeding them with 'lies' and 'deception' and their sad downfall. So, slowdown a little with your arrogance to 'bully and descredit' everybody who disagree with you. Anyway, i guess that should be enough to put some sense back into your 'thick skull' which is preoccupied only with 'hatred' for those who 'dare' to ask of the 'actions' of the USA.

Somewhere in there is a post right? Or, are you just attacking me personally?confused

mnowsa:
Washington's recent flurry of chessboard moves were interpreted in selected circles in Moscow and Beijing as concerted pre-emption. Such moves included:

?The UN-sanctioned/Africom/NATO "humanitarian" intervention in Libya

And that has what to do with central Asia?

mnowsa: ?The threat of a "humanitarian" intervention in Syria

Threat? Please give us proof of a threat. From what I understand, people who don't seem to understand why the US went into Iraq want to know why the US is not even talking about doing anything with Syria so once again, what threat?

mnowsa:
?The no-holds barred expansion of NATO from Northern Africa to Central Asia (spanning that famous, Pentagon-named "arc of instability")
Not to mention the serial invasions - via drone war or targeted assassination - of Pakistan's territory and sovereignty.

Where is NATO in North Africa mnowsa?

mnowsa:
So, if anything, your USA and NATO need to be worried..very worried..

Worried about what, getting an article written by a reporter from Al Jazeera about them who has his facts all screwed up?rolling on the floor laughing
