What´s the point in finding out about the industry if you don´t know if journalism is on the list of professions "welcomed" by the immigration department?
There is a precise list which I can´t remember (teachers and medical are amongst them) OR you have to be retired and have so much disposable income OR you have to be engaged to be married to an Ozzy person with pretty much fixed marriage date ...

Don´t know what USA laws are like, but I know Ozzy ones are tight, including AIDS test, criminal record, profession, employment prospects. But if you tick all the boxes, you´re in!!

immigration laws in australia
if you are a doctor,,,and australia wants more doctors,,,but have a sick child who needs on going medical care,,they will not let you in
but if your an illegal immigrant with TB or the pox or even the
black death or some other nasty thing
they will give you free housing free medical care free food maybe even put you up in a very good motel with swimming pool and give you shopping money
