This is the Metairie Road Parade the fun for the family, single person, or group of friends. Food and Drink Stands along the Parade route. You never can tell you might have the luck of the Irish and meet someone. Come out and be ready to kiss the Colleens and Lads. I have been associated with this event since it's conception.
The St. Patrick Parade Committee of Jefferson Inc. will present its 37th annual St. Patrick Parade of Jefferson on March 11 at noon. Leading the parade this year as grand marshal will be Peter Dale, Harahan police chief. Dale's wife, Julie Dale, will reign as queen.
The theme of the parade is "Heart of My Heart" and there will be 50 trucks, 30 floats, 13 marching clubs, three mini-floats, antique cars and representatives from Farhad Grotto and Jerusalem Temple.
The parade will begin near Archbishop Rummel High School, 1901 Severn Ave., proceed south down Severn and turn left, or east onto Metairie Road. It will continue down Metairie Road and turn left, or north onto Focis Street.
The parade will disband at Focis and Canal streets.
Before the parade festivities, the annual presentation of the shillelagh and outdoor street party will be held March 9 at 11 a.m. at Fulco's, 519 North Turnbull Drive, Metairie. This is the party to be at on the Thursday before the parade. Always a live band.
