I agree with both of you. According to Shamanic beliefs, the spirit is what comes from above, from God, eternal, the Divine and is in no hurry in this life because it is pleased by balance and order and it part of the cycle of The Great Spirit, which is always being re-born. Whereas the soul on the other hand, is your mission in life, your destiny and knowing that it only has one turn on the wheel of life, it is what drives you to complete this mission with a sense of urgency. Soul is all the things that are unique to you, your circumstance, your abilities and gifts, etc. According to these beliefs, you cannot live without spirit because it is the real you. However, you can live without most of your soul, as it can tend to misguide you by its wanting to experince all things in this lifetime, or cycle and can get you off track from your main purpose or mission. Is this the way that you both believe? And if so, then why do we search for our "soulmate" and not our "spiritmate"?
Still, and quiet, and asked myself what is my soul, and what is spirit?
I cannot detach from either of them to name them. They, (for want of a term, soul, spirit) feel as old as the universe, and just a particle of energy in a giant pool of light.
The countless incarnations, the whole acceptance of unity with all energy...
I can't separate to even consider there is something different.
I do understand from an intellectual level, purely academic, how there are othe theories and opinions.
