Credit unions rip you off. Their interest rates are higher, they charge annual fees, and they demand that you pay insurance on all your loans. On a good note, they are more personable and friendly, they pay you dividends because when you open an account you buy shares in the bank. They were best noted for direct deposit in the old days but now all banks do it. Back then it was easier to hide money from your wife. lol
banks are HOLLYWOOD..glamorous, flashy, mostly wants to cater ONLY for people with loads of cash (re-investing blah blah) and with a lot of suits...
Credit unions are GHETTO, ..caters to everyone, plaid chairs, coffee table, not too many suits, rips you off with their interest rates and trying to be just LIKE HOLLYWOOD...

Banks are privitelly owned by a few wealthy people around the world they operate on profit.Credit Unions are local owned by its members Credit Unions operate on a cost basis.Members can vote on issues they want dealt with at anuly meetings they can if desired to vote who is on the board of directors if desired.Credit Unions are very involved with the local community.credit unions pay dividens out to there members if they make to much money just like co-ops.myexplanation.
i have found credit unions are a little more lenient too with lending practices then the 5 big Canadian banks.
